Who am I?
Hi there!
I am an amateur photographer.
Photography has been a part of my life since the age of 13. My parents emigrated me to Australia and it was there that I was introduced to the camera. Photography was a lesson at my High School, where we had use of a darkroom and the first camera I used was a pinhole camera that we had made ourselves during the lessons. To watch an image come to life as it bathes in developer is an amazing thing. From that point I was hooked.
Today I use a digital camera. However my process is still very much based on darkroom techniques, all be it the digital version of dodging & burning etc.
The first question I ask of myself is "can I maintain the integrity of the photograph"
I try to keep away from digital art but I admit I am a fan of "fine art" images and these do require extensive manipulation. I also use filters that are attached to my camera, some say it's old school. Using filters such as graduated filters instead of excessive use of the digital techniques helps me being able to keep the integrity of a photograph that I have made.
